About Tempisque Expeditions

Tempisque Expeditions helps travellers discover cultural and nature experiences in Guanacaste with clearer practical information and a stronger local point of view.

Christopher Montes, local guide in Guanacaste

Born from a deep connection to Guanacaste

Tempisque Expeditions began in 2023 around Christopher Montes’ local knowledge and a shared idea: to help visitors discover the landscapes, communities and culture of Guanacaste beyond the usual tourist route.

Christopher is Costa Rican, grew up near the Tempisque River and later studied Sustainable Tourism Business Management at Universidad Nacional in Nicoya. His connection to the province shapes the experiences and practical information shared here.

The original vision remains the same: create meaningful travel experiences, support local providers and encourage respect for the natural and cultural places visitors come to enjoy.

Experiences and local knowledge for your Guanacaste trip

Tempisque Expeditions combines three things:

  1. Locally hosted experiences: Matambú tours and selected activities connect visitors with culture, food, nature and rural life.
  2. Thoughtful planning support: We explain practical differences so visitors can choose experiences that fit their route, interests and available time.
  3. Practical local guides: Our articles help you understand Sámara and Guanacaste before you choose an experience, organise transport or plan your route.

Whether you travel as a couple, with family or simply want to get away from generic mass-tourism stops, the aim is to make your choices easier and your time in Guanacaste more meaningful.

Who operates and sells each experience?

The booking route is stated on the relevant page.

  • A direct enquiry means Tempisque Expeditions receives the request and coordinates the next booking information.
  • When an experience is operated independently, the responsible provider is identified clearly.

Tempisque Expeditions does not describe a third-party experience as its own operation.

How experiences are selected

Recommendations are evaluated for their relevance to the destination and page, practical pickup or meeting information, clarity of inclusions and usefulness for a traveller making a real decision.

Commercial relationships can support the website, but they should not determine a recommendation on their own. When important information cannot be verified, the page states the limitation or does not publish the product.

What responsible travel means here

For Tempisque Expeditions, responsible travel begins with accurate representation and respectful behaviour. That includes identifying local hosts, avoiding stereotypes, asking before photographing people, respecting protected areas and following the guidance of the people responsible for an experience.

Environmental or community-impact claims are published only when they can be explained and supported. The website does not assume that every activity labelled “eco” or “local” automatically creates a positive impact.

Local review and updates

Commercial pages should display when their important details were last checked. Cultural and destination content should be reviewed by Christopher or an appropriate local source before publication. Prices, transport, seasons and provider terms are treated as changeable information.
